I love this branch!! The members of El Rio are wonderful! I’ve been able to meet a lot of them already, especially at church yesterday, and I can tell that they are a good bunch. 🙂 The branch had four baptisms two weeks ago, so the work here is going well. They love it and we love helping them with it!
Right now Hermana Field and I are getting oriented and geared up for the transfer. We re-did our big white board (that was a huge accomplishment!) and are getting really good at reading maps since out area is so large (we cover the North and West Tucson stakes). We have tons of resources and are excited to go out and find some people to teach.
I’ve been reading through some of the General Conference talks lately, and it hit me how much the council shared in those accounts is exactly what the world needs right now. I know that by taking and applying those things that we heard in General Conference in our own lives, we will see a change for the better. We will become more like Christ and more people will see Him in us. One that I read this morning that I really liked came from Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson from the General Women’s Conference. Speaking of women, she said,
“We have been blessed with tender and charitable natures which enable us to render Christlike love and service to those around us. As we look beyond our differences in age, culture, and circumstance to nurture and serve one another, we will be filled with the pure love of Christ and the inspiration which leads us to know when and whom to serve.”
Isn’t that great? We are here to find and develop our talents and Godly attributes and Heavenly Father wants to help us do it. In fact, that’s why He gave us His Son. That’s what the Atonement is for. 🙂
I love you all! Have a wonderful week!
Hermana Sutherland 🙂
PS – Hna Field and I the other day disovered that when translated, our last names are “Campo” (Field) and “Tierra del Sur” (Land of South). It was pretty funny when we figured out that we were both land!
